Play the gift exchange called the 'favorites exchange'
Before we begin with some great gift ideas for friends and family that love to read how about a different kind of gift exchange for your holiday book club? Gift exchanges are the usual party favorite and so much fun to participate in and in the end your friends will be overjoyed to take home some holiday swag.
*Check out these two other gift exchange ideas that you may want to try at your holiday party. There is the classic gift exchange game and the optional book exchange that will set your reads up for the whole year. You can play both of these games for a jolly good time!
The objective: Just like the baby Jesus received three gifts so will you when this game is done.
Let's begin! Each person will bring three individually wrapped gifts of the same kind. Preferably items that have been tested ad loved by you. Gifts that you would want your friends to have. See below for an example of my three gifts that I will be bringing. I actually use this product on myself and love the scent! Lavender & Chamomile Aromatherapy Roller on Etsy Your gifts should be under the agreed amount such as three gifts for under $30 and or $10 a piece. If you go a little bit under or over that's totally okay. Don't forget to wrap each gift individually.
Day of your holiday book club - Write your names down 3xs on separate pieces of paper and put those strips of paper into a hat or bag. Next, decide who will be the first among the group to present the gifts (you can go by first letter name in alphabet or birthday month) and give a quick description as to why you chose these gifts without mentioning what it is. It might be something you use and love or it has special meaning. After that, pull three names out of that hat and those names will get their first out of three gifts. Continue until everyone has three gifts and all the names are drawn. At the end of the gift exchange proceed to unwrap your three gifts and enjoy!
To steal or not to steal? What is a gift exchange without a good steal? Totally optional but after the drawing of the names are all done you can begin to steal away! Put the names back in the hat (only one name this time) and when a name is pulled they can either choose to keep their gifts or take one gift from someone's gift pile and give one of yours back to them. The person who had their one gift stolen now has their turn and can either stay with what they have or continue the steal chain (you can't take back what was just stolen unless you get another turn by steal). Keep the exchange going until everyone has had their turn. Rules - After two or three steals on the gifts no more stealing is allowed. There has to be an end to stealing eventually!
