Costumes and mystery reading!
Our annual Halloween book club was a scary good time and now I am excited to share with you some of the details of it. As I was the party host this year it was a real treat in pulling book inspired ideas from our novel and finding bookish ways to go beyond. Although our costume theme, fairy tales, was different from our book choice we still gave our read 'And Then There Were None' a spooky celebration!
The night included an easy to createphoto background with mystery props, prizes for the best costume and runner up, an elimination trivia game in the true spirit of Agatha Christie's mystery novel. A yummy fall menu graced our table with wink, wink, poisonous drinks and there you have one spooktacular party. Below are just a few tips to bring out a fun book club Halloween experience. Finding Mystery and Murder in our book discussion with Agatha Christie
Who doesn't love Agatha Christie? If you've never read one of her mystery novels or even seen the movies of her books please do so today! Christie has an ingenious way of setting up every character in detail so that you A) get the backstory on who these characters are and where do they connect and B) to question their moral character. We asked ourselves, are we supposed to empathize with them at some point? Feel mercy for them or despise them before heads roll? Her writing style is easy reading that has transcended decades and has perfected the 'whodunit' down to the final moments so you will never know the outcome until the end. None of us even came close to guessing who the murderer(s) was. Some of us sheepishly admitted to reading the end first because we couldn't handle the suspense and others shared they didn't like reading the evil descriptive thoughts in the murderers mind. Murder mysteries are not for everyone but for Halloween it's perfect.
And that my book friends is exactly the book we are looking for in our Halloween book club pick. A whodunit mystery while experiencing the classic writing from the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie Comments are closed.
