Halloween mystery book club
Our annual Halloween book club was a scary good time and now I am excited to share some of the details with you. As I was the party host this year it was a real treat in pulling book inspired ideas from the novel and finding bookish ways to go beyond. Although our costume theme this year was 'fairy tales' we went a different direction in our novel choice. 'And Then There Were None' by Agatha Christie was the spooky winner this time!
The night included an easy to create photo background with photo props for cute pictures, prizes for the best costume and also a prize for runner up. Add an elimination trivia game in the true spirit of Agatha Christie's novel 'And Then There Were None' by asking each person a question from the book and if they get it wrong they are 'eliminated' from playing. The games ends when you have one person left standing. Prize for the winner is a must! A yummy fall menu graced our table with wink, wink, poisonous drinks and there you have one spooktacular party. Below are just a few tips for you to have a fun book club Halloween experience: Before the party:
At the party:
Finding mystery and murder with Agatha Christie
Who doesn't love Agatha Christie? If you've never read one of her mystery novels or even seen the movies of the books please do so today! Christie has an ingenious way of setting up every character, their backstory and moral character so that you, the reader can be prepared for what is to come.
Her writing style is easy reading that has transcended decades and has perfected the 'whodunit' down to the final moments so you will never know the outcome until the end. None of us even came close to guessing how it would end. Some sheepishly admitted to reading the end first because they couldn't handle the suspense and others didn't like reading the evil descriptive thoughts in the murderers mind in 'And Then There Were None'. Murder mysteries are not for everyone but for Halloween it's perfect. And that my book friends is exactly the book we were looking for in our Halloween book club pick. A whodunit mystery while experiencing the classic writing from the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie. Comments are closed.
