Spring into book cleaning with these great tips!

Let's be honest book friends.  Book lovers are closet book hoarders. How many novels and or book club reads do you have lying around your home?  Novels on shelves, books gathering dust under your bed or in boxes in every nook and cranny. Tomes you will sadly never read again because they didn't make it on your 'DIK' list aka: 'Desert Island Keeper' as in  *If you could only bring one or two books to be stranded on a desert island with which would you choose?  Think about that when cleaning up your book hoard!

Those books are your precious keepsakes and you will read them over and over again for life. But for the novels that did not make it on your 'DIK' shelf what do you do with them? I've got some ideas for you book friends so let's get some SPRING cleaning done!

One's book trash is another book lovers treasure

Have a spring time book exchange - At your next book club, have the host email everyone to bring their book discards to the next meeting to exchange with other book friends. Not stating the obvious - NO book club reads allowed!

Your local library
Take your unwanted novels to your local library and drop them off no questions asked

Amazon trade in program
Receive an Amazon gift card for your used books (you can trade in other used items as well - check it out!)

Donate to your local Goodwill or other donation center - books are tax deductible

Have any religious or inspirational books? Churches may want them for the church library

Sell your books online with BookScouter.com

Spread the word! Build a FREE library and place it outside your home. Free libraries are a wonderful way to get your community into reading, exchanging and sharing. You can keep it simple by taking a used two shelf bookcase, adding your unwanted novels and position it out front in a safe but visible spot.
